Transdermal patches are placed on the surface of the body to deliver active ingredients through the skin. We have been developing and manufacturing these patches for eight years, and recently our design engineer, operations manager, and quality control manager blended their skills to design and develop homeopathic energy patches for the consumer industry. We carefully mixed the water based adhesive so as to avoid any viscosity problems. Polyolefin surface film was then run through our pilot coater to surface one side of the transdermal patch with the adhesive, which was allowed to dry to a natural finish on the film. In a transdermal product like this, coating weight is particularly important for reasons of sealability, peelability, and appearance. Coating width and coating weight were carefully tested throughout the manufacture of these 2" x 2 ½" patches, whose efficacy was confirmed when tested in a laboratory at Rutgers University. Complying with our customer's stringent specifications, in only 90 days we were able to deliver millions of these patches to our New Jersey client, who subsequently told us that not only did the patches work as required, but they had an excellent appearance.

Our pilot coater can handle up to 19 different coating systems, so we clearly have the equipment capability and skill to handle any coated product project. Contact Pocono Coated Products for further information.
